  • White Paper: Additional Issues Regarding Possible Duplicate Payment of Check Items – Duplicates continue to be a challenge for the banking industry.  This paper addresses certain issues associated with duplicate presentment of check images.
  • Return Decision Hierarchy; ECCHOTM is pleased to announce that an update has been approved to the ECCHOTM Rules that establishes the industry best practice for the routing of unpaid check image returns.  This rule change will become effective December 1, 2008 and can be found in Section XX(D) of the ECCHOTM rules.

  • Banking Practices Agreement (BPA) (The ECCHOTM Rules are a national rule set that provide the legal framework for check image exchange.  Exchange partners must still agree to the operational aspects of the exchange and may do so through an agreement as illustrated here. This document represents a sample agreement only.   • White Paper: Commingling ECP Processing (The Electronic Check Clearing House Organization (ECCHOTM) through its Operations Committee formed a Commingling Subcommittee that investigated the concept of commingling in an ECP environment. After studying the concept, the Committee determined that commingling is primarily a hardware, software and procedural issue. The ECCHOTM members feel this sharing of information will benefit interested parties as well as the members, as the industry begins to develop commingled ECP processing. This document is designed to describe the issues associated with commingling in an ECP environment and not necessarily provide definitive solutions to those issues.
