EXAM INFORMATION
 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate to study for, take, and pass the exam should have a minimum of two years experience in the financial services industry and a desire to learn more about check payments as a whole. Relevant experience could include check or check image operations, treasury, product, card, fraud and/or risk.

$400 for ECCHO^TM members/ $500 for non-members.

Duration of Exam

Not longer than three (3) hours

The Exam

Computer-based test with 120 multiple choice questions with 100 of the exam questions to be scored. The NCPC^TM Editorial Board will review the results of the Exam and determine the appropriate pass/fail threshold after the Test Window closes. Individual test results will be provided by ECCHO^TM directly to examinees.

Examinees will receive notification either 1) that they passed the exam or 2) that they did not pass the exam. The scores are only listed as “Pass” or “No Pass.  Results for specific questions will not be provided to candidates.  Exam scores will include an indication of performance in each of the four exam blueprint categories. 

Testing Centers

NCPC^TM exams will be held at PSI Exams Online locations throughout the U.S. and PSI Exams Online will proctor the exams. To find a complete listing of testing centers, click here then select "Test Centers" link.

The PSI Exams Online website will not have  the new NCPC^TM exam available to request appointments until just before the exam window opens.

  Appointments to take the exam

Once registered with ECCHO^TM to take the NCPC^TM Exam, candidates will receive from ECCHO^TM a confirmation ID number.  This ID number is the “PSI Confirmation Code/ECCHO ID” to be used when scheduling an Exam appointment with PSI Exams Online.

Any scheduled Exam appointment dates and times will be at the discretion of the Testing Center based upon appointment availability at that testing center location. Candidates are encouraged to schedule their test appointment as soon as possible to ensure preferred date and time at the Testing Center of choice. Exam appointments may be scheduled:

- Via the Internet 24 hours a day at www.psiexams.com
- Via telephone by calling PSI at (800) 733-9267

Admittance to Testing Center

Candidates will need to bring the following to the testing center:

- Two (2) forms of identification:  one of these must be a photo ID such as a driver’s license or gov't issued ID.; AND
- Copy of the email from PSI Exams Online confirming the appointment location, date and time.
      ♦ Note: The name on your ID will need to match the name used to register for the Exam appointment.

It is advisable to arrive at the testing center location 30 minutes before the scheduled test appointment.

Make a plan for your personal items.  Purses, cell phones, and other electronic devices are not allowed in the testing centers. Testing centers may/may not have lockers or other areas to secure personal items.
 

Retaking the Exam

Examinees that do not pass the exam may pay an additional registration fee for each attempt and retake the exam in a future annual test window without limitations.

REGISTRATION

Registering for the Exam

You can register online here or by clicking the Register Now link on any NCPC^TM webpage. You will submit the exam fee as part of the registration process and a receipt will be emailed to you once the payment has been processed.

The confirmation ID number or “PSI Confirmation ID/ECCHO ID”  to be used when scheduling an appointment to take the exam with PSI Exams Online, will be emailed separately prior to the exam date.

Visa, Mastercard and Discover accepted

Payment may be made online directly or ECCHO^TM can send an invoice for payment by check.

Cancelations and Refunds

Registrations for the Exam may be canceled for a refund of the exam registration fee minus a $25 administrative fee if received by ECCHO^TM one month prior to the exam window of the exam year initially registered. 

Refunds for payments made with a credit card will be credited back to the same card within 3-5 business days of request for cancelation.

Refunds for payments made by check will be received via check made payable to the person/ company sending the initial fee. Please allow three (3) weeks for the receipt of a refund check due to processing and mail time. 

Substitutions

Substitutions for candidates who no longer wish to take the NCPC^TM Exam are allowable until approximately two weeks prior to the exam window. ECCHO^TM must be notified directly in the case of substitution requests and no fee will be assessed to support the associated administrative functions. If a substitution request is received by ECCHO^TM after the deadline, the registration will be transferred to the next exam test window.

NCPC Exam Rollover Policy

Test candidates, who have registered with ECCHO^TM but not yet registered/set exam appointment with PSI Exams Online, may move their examination period to the next exam year by informing ECCHO^TM prior to the start of the exam window and paying a fee of $50 (if they have never moved their test window before). For those who have already registered with PSI for that testing period there is an additional $65 fee to move (totaling $115).

Test candidates that have already exercised the option to move their exam in previous year(s) may move their examination period to the next exam year by informing ECCHO^TM prior to the start of the exam window and paying a fee of $100. For those who have already registered with PSI LaserGrade for that testing period there is an additional $65 fee to move (totaling $165).

Exams can only be rolled over twice (for two years). After that, if not taken, the exam fee is forfeited.

Missed Exam Appointments

Candidates who arrive outside of their scheduled exam appointment time will be admitted based upon the availability and at the discretion of the PSI Exams Online testing center. If an appointment is missed in such a manner and no other available date/time is acceptable to reschedule, ECCHO^TM must be notified directly and the exam registration will be transferred minus a $65 administrative fee to the next exam test window.
 
Candidates who do not keep their scheduled exam appointment and fail to notify ECCHO^TM will be subject to forfeiture of the exam registration fee. The candidate must re-register and pay all applicable registration fees to take any future NCPC^TM exam.
